The Luz Stadium, Sport Lisboa e Benfica (official name) is a football stadium located in Lisbon, Portugal. The new Luz Stadium was opened on October 25, 2003.
As part of the Euro 2004 was demolished the old Luz Stadium and and was built this in the adjacent room, and was, indeed, the end stage of the competition. The authorship of the project for the new stadium is the Australian Company, the same who designed the Olympic Stadium in Sydney in Australia or the new Algarve stadium in Portugal.
The stadium is known as “The Cathedral”.
The Sport Lisboa e Benfica is a multi-sport club based in São Domingos de Benfica, in Lisbon, Portugal. Its eclecticism, history and strong fan base make one of the Great clubs Benfica in Portugal and one of the most prestigious worldwide. The main mode of the club is football, but also distinguished themselves in others, such as handball, basketball, futsal, hockey skates, volleyball, among others. In their equipment uses as main colors red and white, as a symbol an eagle.
