Lisbon is the best city to live, invest and visit in Portugal, reveals a Bloom Consulting study on “city-brands” that evaluated and classified the effectiveness of each of the 308 Portuguese municipalities according to their performance in the areas of investment, tourism and talent.
The capital leads the ranking in all three categories. It is considered the best city to invest in, to live in and to visit. It is followed by Porto, the second best city for business, the third for tourism and the fourth best in the country to live in. Braga, Oeiras and Coimbra come immediately after.
Lisbon and Porto are the main gateways to Portugal for investors and tourists.
The regional ranking is marked by the isolated leadership of the municipality of Porto, followed by the municipality of Braga and the “cluster” of northern cities comprising Guimarães, Viana do Castelo, Maia and Matosinhos. Bloom highlights that seven of the 25 best-placed cities in the national ranking are located in the Northern region.
“A “city-brand” is an asset for municipalities. It should be managed in a way that enhances them and with the purpose of achieving different objectives. According to our methodology, there are three primary dimensions through which the potential of a “city-brand” can be tangibly gauged: commerce (investment), tourism and talent”, explains Filipe Roquette, general director of Bloom Portugal, in a statement.
Specialized in the work of “country-brands”, a little all over the world, Bloom Consulting has just started its activity in the Portuguese market. Based on this know-how acquired through the publication of the Bloom Consulting Country Brand Ranking, the consulting company developed, for the first time, the Bloom Consulting Portugal City Brand Ranking.
