“CALDEIRADA À PESCADOR” FISH STEW CONTEST IN COSTA DE CAPARICA
Eleven restaurants in Costa de Caparica are participating in the 10th edition of the “Caldeirada à Pescador” stew competition, which runs until March 16, organised by the local parish council.
For one month, always at lunchtime on Saturdays and Sundays and on Tuesday of Carnival, you can enjoy “Caldeirada Caparica”, a dish made with fresh fish and local vegetables. The purpose of this competition is to evaluate the best caldeirada of the region, elected by a jury that will randomly visit the restaurants, and to pay tribute to Francisco Pinto, a Caparican fisherman who survived the shipwreck of the “Pensativo”, which sank in December 1929, claiming 11 victims.
This gastronomic event also integrates a set of initiatives that aim to attract more people to the locality during the winter months and, at the same time, affirm “Caldeirada à Pescador” as one of the brand images of the region.
