LISBON 10 MILLION OVERNIGHT STAYS EXCEEDED.
For the first time in the history of Lisbon Tourism, the capital region’s hotels exceeded the 10 million overnight stays threshold in a single year, according to 2013 data from INE – National Statistics Institute. This performance of 10.067 million overnight stays represents an increase of 6.6% over the previous year.
As a result, total income rose 8.5% to 587 million euros. Lisbon is now a tourist destination with low seasonality and a diversified, quality offer. These official indicators confirm the evolution of the capital region’s tourism economy, the statement said.
In the same period, the Port of Lisbon also set a record by registering 558,040 cruise passengers – 7% more than the previous year. In turn, Lisbon Airport exceeded 16 million passengers for the first time, with a 4.6% increase in movements.
